Subcontracting
I am available to subcontract on other designers' projects. Typically, I am hired for one of three reasons:
Isolated Programming/Installation Requests
I have a working knowledge of PHP and MySQL and I am available to program projects for your site. For Auzet du Cap, for example, I was subcontracted to create a calendar reservation system and backend content management panel.
Many designers who are comfortable working with HTML and CSS are not comfortable installing programs such as blogs and forums. I offer installation and setup services for most major programs, including popular forums such as PHPBB, Simple Machines Forum, and Invision Power Board; blogs such as Movable Type and WordPress; and content management systems such as Drupal or Expression Engine.
Content Writing and Editing / Database Entry
In large projects, lead designers often do not have time to manage content editing and database entry. I am available to take this often tedious task off your hands—and I bring with me the skills and experience I offer all my copy editing clients.
Consulting
Occasionally I am hired to assess a site's strengths and weakness and make recommendations on future design needs. For the University of Cambridge's Classics Department, for example, I provided an overview of their current site's status and recommendations to consider as they look into a site redesign. Web designers who do not routinely work with web standard code and CSS-based design may also like an outsider's perspective of a site design—or a template design page they can use to create the rest of the site.
I work well in team environments, and I listen to and respect the needs and requirements of the project lead. If you are looking for assistance with a project, contact AMD and I can help.
